From November 20th 2023. ATV training by an accredited provider will  be a legal requirement in Ireland. Every workplace must provide training for all their ATV users, this includes the self employed, farmers, employees. The business owner has the responsibility to ensure that all persons who use or supervise those using ATV equipment have received adequate and accredited training for purposes of health and safety.  


Quad operators can master the basics of sit-astride ATV/Quad  with one of our courses. 

Our one day course for experienced ATV/Quad operators. E250.00.


. Training can be co-ordinated around your work schedule and can be hosted at your premises or ours. 

All successful candidates will be awarded ABA accredited HSA approved certification.

All candidates must be over 16 years of age.

Who needs to attend?

Anyone who is required to use or supervise ATV equipment

Prerequisites

Must be over 16 with 6 months verifiable experience for 1 day course


Duration

The expected duration of the course is 1 day however this may vary due to factors like experience levels, modules or attachments selected or the ratio of Instructors to Learners

End of course

By the end of the course

    

    

  • comply with legal requirements, with an emphasis on safe practice
     
  • identify the risks associated with using a sit-astride ATV
     
  • select and use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
     
  • understand the main causes of accidents
     
  • identify the controls and components
     
  • understand the functions of all the instruments
     
  • carry out daily checks as indicated in the manufacturer's operator manual
     
  • carry out appropriate pre-start checks
     
  • identify and report any faults
     
  • carry out an on-site risk assessment and plan the route
     
  • identify loading and towing capacities.
     

 

With the following options to: 

  • operate the ATV safely on a variety of slopes and terrain
     
  • carry out a failed hill climb
     
  • demonstrate active riding
     
  • drive with loads and/or trailed equipment
     
  • load and secure vehicles for transport on the road.
