WAH

According to the Health and Safety Authority (HSA), working at height is defined as any location—at, above, or below ground level—where an individual could sustain injuries from a fall. This definition encompasses accessing or leaving such places (except via a staircase in a permanent workplace). Key aspects of the HSA definition include: No Minimum Height: There is no '2-metre rule.' If a fall could lead to injury, it falls under working at height, even if it occurs below ground level (e.g., into an excavation). Examples include working on a ladder, roof, scaffolding, or near an open excavation. Legal Duty: Employers must manage risks associated with working at height by adhering to the hierarchy of controls: avoid, prevent falls, or minimize the consequences of a fall. Additionally, proper ladder safety practices and MEWPS training are essential for all employers and self-employed individuals to ensure compliance with regulations.
