HSA machinery inspection requirements mandate that all work equipment is safe, suitable for purpose, and regularly maintained, with risk assessments conducted under the 2005 Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act.
Employers must ensure lifting equipment receives statutory "thorough examinations" by competent assessed persons, and all machines have functional guards to prevent entanglement or injury
To comply. that means having both the lifting and driving mechanisms inspected at least every 6 months or 12 months as part of a Thorough Examination in line with LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998) and PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998).
Examples of lifting equipment – Forklifts, Telehandlers, Teleporters, Reach trucks –Excavators, Wheel Loader’s – Lorry Mounted Cranes - Chain & Hook Loaders, MEWPS, Chains, Slings etc.
